“We’re going to travel the city!” You exclaim with excitement and I follow you with a smile.
You start off with bragging about spending your precious time and money on me, which is then followed by rude remarks such as; “You don’t deserve this!” even though you know your entire trip is worth the dinner that the servant’s serve at my daddy’s home.
“You have no idea about this world. You just don’t know anything!” You mock, even though I have traveled three times than you have.
“You don’t need to study further. I am here to earn for us. I can provide for you!” You command, even though you can’t afford for yourself.
You complain I don’t compromise and never understand you. You complained yesterday, today, and you complain every day.
You complain I am a sinner because I don’t pray in the morning, but then you go and warm up her sheets at night, thinking it’s still a secret.
You complain I am not normal even though you once told me; you loved me because I was different.
You laughed at the idea of the world being made for me & now you’re so keen to prove to me it’s not.
You’re so rude when you speak, uselessly loud in your useless car, heartless when you pretend, harsh when you touch, and rough under the sheets.
Oh no! Now I’m all over the place again. So back to what I started with; “We’re going to travel the city!” You exclaim with excitement and I follow you with a smile.
You paint my hair greyer than grey, my mornings darker than the dark and my bruises bluer than blue itself, but I still follow you with a smile before I mourn.

The world instructs us to not lose respect by walking out of a marriage that gives us nothing but humiliation.
How distressing is that?
